Indoor Cricket Grand Final Review

Andrew vs The Banditos @ 8:30

Team - Shaun, Andrew, AJ, Cam, Simon & Jamie

After knocking off the top team last week in the semi-finals, we were coming up against a team that we hadn’t played in the regular season due to our late inclusion and a few other changes to our division.

We lost the toss and were forced to bowl first, which most of us actually preferred as we are a very strong bowling team. However in saying that the first batting pair was on 66 after the first 6 overs, This was even with some great fielding pressure. I wasn’t a great help as my first over went for 16 runs (one of my most expensive for the season).

The game quickly changed with the second batting pair coming into bat. With wickets falling regularly thanks to some tight bowling and great catching, we were able to keep them to 1 run in 6 overs. This put us in a good position to keep them to a competitive score. My second over went for -13 runs which included a hat-trick.

This left The
Banditos on 67 runs with 6 overs to go in the grand final. This batting pair seemed more confident than the last two, however we were able to keep the pressure on them in the field keeping them to 19 runs in 6 overs, which meant as a team they had only made 20 runs in 12 overs for a grand total of 86 runs. My personal bowling figures were 1 run from 3 overs.

Our first batting pair of Jamie and Simon got off to a flying start.Within the first 4 overs we were sitting just short of 50 runs with some luck going their way thanks to a few dropped catches and miss-fields. However after a few wickets they were still able to finish on 40 runs.

The second batting pair consisted of Andrew and myself. I wont lie, my wicket was like a revolving door for their bowlers. I personally made -25 runs in 6 overs, but thankfully Andrew was able to make the most of the little time he had on strike to make 24 runs to bring it back to a partnership of -1 runs, leaving team Andrew on 39 runs after 12 overs and with an up hill battle to win the game.

The last batting pair was Cam and AJ who have been our big hitters all season. Thanks to some cool & calm batting and no risk running between the wickets they were able to make 65 runs in 6 overs to get team Andrew over the line by 19 runs.

Our Trophy was a green premiers T-Shirt (will try and upload a picture later)
